Disney, Nowcom strike download deal

'Up,' 'Pirates' all part of rental and purchase agreement

HONG KONG -- Disney and Korea's Nowcom have struck a deal making the studio's movies available online.

The deal covers current films including "Up" and "The Proposal," as well as library titles "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" and spans online purchase or rental.

"Today’s announcement is a great example of the type of legitimate business solutions we are developing with our partners, in Korea and across the region, to expand the way viewers can connect to the content they want, when they want, and on the platforms they choose," said Rob Gilby, senior VP Disney-ABC International Television Asia Pacific.

Operating two download sites, Nowcom currently offers more than 16,000 movie and TV titles and has a customer base of 17 million users driving approximately 5.5 million unique visitors per month.
