Disney shakes up TV structure

Integrates television sales with national strategies

BEIJING -- Disney-ABC International Television Asia-Pacific on Wednesday announced a restructuring of its regional business, combining Disney Channel and DAIT into a single distribution business.

Rob Gilby, senior vp and managing director of DAIT, Asia Pacific, will head both the newly created Channel Distribution team and the Program Distribution team, the company said. The move also will integrate sales teams in China and Korea with Disney strategies in those countries.

Several new positions have been created to support the new strategy. Raju Venkataraman has been appointed vp channel distribution. Greg Johnson remains vp program distribution. Shinbong Kong has been appointed executive director of media distribution for Korea. Dai Hua will become vp media distribution for greater China. All will report to Gilby, with Dai also reporting Stanley Cheung, managing director of the Walt Disney Co., greater China.

Disney declined to make Dai available for interview and would not comment beyond the statement.
