Disney taps trio for pub duties
EmptyTeri Meyer has been named to the newly created position of executive vp worldwide publicity at Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing. Jasmine Madatian also joins the unit as senior vp domestic publicity, and Michelle Sewell moves up to senior vp international publicity.
Meyer will report to Mark Zoradi, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing and Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Distribution, and Jim Gallagher, president of domestic marketing at Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing.
She will be responsible for formulating and executing worldwide publicity campaigns for all live-action and animated motion pictures released under the Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Hollywood Pictures banners.
Madatian and Sewell will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the publicity campaigns in their respective areas. They will report to Meyer. Madatian also will report to Gallagher.
Meyer has been a part of the Disney fold for 12 years. For the past 10 years, she has been senior vp international publicity at Buena Vista International. She has guided international publicity campaigns for films including "The Incredibles," "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."
Before Disney, Meyer held positions as senior vp at Dennis Davidson & Associates and director of national publicity at Universal Pictures. She began her career as a journalist, serving as The Hollywood Reporter's business editor, senior film reporter and eventually as editor.
Madatian, who is coming off a freelance stint, was senior vp publicity/promotions at Paramount Pictures from 1998-2005. In that role, she supervised campaigns for such titles as "Titanic," "The Truman Show," "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut" and "Mission: Impossible 2." Before that, Madatian was vp national publicity at 20th Century Fox; earlier, she was a senior account executive with Andrea Jaffe.
Sewell, a 15-year veteran of Buena Vista International, was vp European publicity in the company's London office, a position she held since 1997. Before that, she held the posts of director of European publicity and U.K. publicity manager. She was instrumental in implementing publicity campaigns throughout Europe for the "Pirates" films, "Narnia" and "The Lion King," among others.
Earlier, Sewell worked for Rogers and Cowan as publicity director for Palace Group and Working Title Films.
