The wealthy city-state, home to 5.85 million consumers, will be just the sixth market for Disney+ in Asia Pacific, following Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan and Indonesia.

During a barnstorming Investor Day presentation, the Walt Disney Co. said Thursday that its Disney+ streaming service will soon be adding Singapore to its footprint in Asia.

The streaming service will launch in the Southeast Asian city-state on Feb. 23, 2021. The Singaporean product offering will include Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and the newly revamped international brand Star, making the territory the first market to launch Disney+ with all six of the company's content brands.

To date, Disney+ has launched in the Asia-Pacific region in the following markets: Australia, New Zealand, India (via the Hotstar brand), Japan and Indonesia.

As Disney announced elsewhere in its Thursday presentation, Star will become the company's international streaming brand that offers a lineup of general entertainment from brands like ABC, FX and 20th Century Studios — essentially akin to Hulu for non-U.S. markets.

Disney+ will launch in Singapore at a price of 11.98 Singaporean dollars a month ($8.99) or 119.98 Singaporean dollars a year ($90.01).

Southeast Asia's most affluent and mature entertainment market, Singapore is home to a population of about 5.85 million. Disney's headquarters in the region is based in the city, where it also operates a large Industrial Light & Magic post-production and VFX facility.

Said Amit Malhotra, Disney's APAC regional lead for emerging markets: "The Disney+ launch in Singapore will be the global day-and-date launch with general entertainment offering ‘Star’, which will be added alongside content from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and National Geographic. With this launch, we take another momentous step in staying committed to our promise of delivering powerful stories with heart to consumers. Streaming services have become an integral part of the daily lives for many consumers in Singapore, and we are dedicated to ensuring that Disney+ offers the best-in-class entertainment experience for all audiences."
