Buena Vista Street in California Adventure, which reopened for outdoor dining and shopping on Nov. 19, 2020.

The order will go into effect for SoCal and San Joaquin Valley at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday amid rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

Downtown Disney and a portion of California Adventure will continue to operate, however, some locations will be closed after it was announced on Saturday a regional stay-at-home order had been triggered for Southern California.

The order will go into effect for SoCal and San Joaquin Valley at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday amid rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Under the new order, bars, wineries, nail salons, hair salons and other personal care services must close. Retail stores will be limited to 20 percent capacity. Restaurants may stay open for takeout and delivery but no outdoor or indoor dining is allowed.

As for Downtown Disney, which reopened over the summer, and Buena Vista Street in California Adventure, which reopened last month, retail locations will continue to operate with enhanced health and safety measures in place for guests and employees. Restaurants, and food and beverage locations, that do not offer take-out for consumption offsite will temporarily close.

These changes will impact 350 employees who will now be placed back to furlough. The announcement comes on the day marking Walt Disney's 119th birthday.

Retailers with food and beverage offerings will remain open, which includes locations such as Marceline’s Confectionery, Trolley Treats, among others, but food and beverage must be consumed offsite.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Thursday the structure of the regional stay at home order, following 20, 000 new coronavirus cases in California the day before. He noted that after the three-week period state health officials will evaluate ICU capacity and transmission rates to project at least one month ahead to determine if the order can be lifted.
