Disney's XD replaces Toon in Japan

Channel will make local debut in August

TOKYO -- Disney XD, the new boys-oriented channel, will replace Toon Disney in Japan beginning in August, the company said.

The revamped channel, aimed at 6- to 14-year-olds and featuring more live-action content than its predecessor, launched in the U.S. in February and France in April.

Toon Disney is available as a standard channel on Sky PercTV and J:COM (Jupiter Telecommunications), Japan's biggest satellite and cable providers respectively. Disney XD will reach more than 7 million households across the two platforms.
