Diver down for BBC Worldwide post


LONDON -- BBC Worldwide's global channels unit has moved to raise the profile of its marketing department by hiring Warner Bros. International Television marketing director Becky Diver as vp marketing, managing director Darren Childs said Wednesday.

In the new post, Diver will lead global marketing efforts for the new BBC-branded portfolio that comprises BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Knowledge, CBeebies and BBC HD.

Reporting to Childs, Diver will head up the marketing division when she takes up her new post in July and work closely with regional senior vps Dean Possenniskie, head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Asia chief Christine Leo-McKerrow; and Jessica Rodriguez, who is responsible for Latin America.

"Apart from supporting successful global brands including BBC America, BBC Entertainment, CBeebies and BBC Prime, we are introducing of a number of new BBC-branded channels around the world," Childs said.

"How we tell the story of these new channels to our distribution partners and audiences will be fundamental to our success. Becky has immense vision and expertise with skills honed in market-leading media companies, and I'm looking forward to her driving our message worldwide."

Before a 2 1/2-year stint at Warner Bros., Diver was head of marketing at Sky Networks.
