Documentary Maker Takes Credit for Halting Donald Trump's Presidential Run

"You've Been Trumped" helmer Anthony Baxter says his film shows the "Celebrity Apprentice" star as a bully.

TORONTO – You’ve Been Trumped doc maker Anthony Baxter is taking credit for Donald Trump saying no to a U.S. presidential run.

“I do think Mr. Trump realized he would be under severe scrutiny if he actually ran for president, and our film had become part of that dialogue,” Baxter said from Cannes where his expose’ of the controversial property tycoon is being shopped following a world première on May 3 at the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto.

You’ve Been Trumped portrays The Celebrity Apprentice mogul as a bully trampling a bonny Scotland seaside to build a $1 billion golf course development.

The Donald Trump we saw in the making of this film is not the man Americans see on The Apprentice,” Baxter insisted.

“If our film has played even a small part in Mr. Trump's decision, then I think it's a credit to those who have been questioning the assumptions around the development,” he added.

The doc will screen at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival on June 10 after the Edinburgh International Film Festival declined to show the controversial film.

Baxter is planning an alternative Scottish premiere for the David vs. Goliath film that portrays local farmer Michael Forbes defiantly standing in the way of Trump’s bulldozers as they run roughshod over an isolated stretch of sand dunes in Scotland.
