Dogwoof takes 'Countdown' for U.K.

Lucy Walker's nuclear weapons documentary

LONDON -- U.K. indie distributor of social issue movie-making Dogwoof has bitten off U.K. rights to nuclear weapons documentary "Countdown To Zero," written and directed by Lucy Walker.

Dogwoof secured the rights in a deal with U.K. sales and finance label The Works International after it unspooled in Official Selection at last month's Festival de Cannes after premiering in Sundance earlier this year.

Walker's movie is produced by Quentin Tarantino's long-term producing partner Lawrence Bender, a documentary Oscar-winner with "An Inconvenient Truth."

The film was bankrolled by Jeff Skoll's Participant Media in association with the World Security Institute.

The deal was negotiated between The Works International managing director Carl Clifton and Anna Godas for Dogwoof.

Dogwoof aims to roll the film out here this fall.
