Dolce & Gabbana Launches Line of Hijabs and Abayas
The Muslim clothing market is heating up.
It appears that Muslim and Arab clothing is getting to be a hot topic in fashion circles. Tommy Hilfiger and Monique Lhuillier have designed exclusive targeted collections, H&M has run ads featuring a model wearing a hijab and Net-a-Porter ran a campaign called "The Ramadan Edit."
Now Dolce & Gabbana, perhaps the most high-profile of them all, has launched the Abaya Collection, comprising hijabs and abayas. Over the weekend, the Italian luxury label debuted its new high-fashion pieces, which come in neutral hues and flowy fabrics like georgette and satin charmeuse. Additionally, as Fashionista reports, some feature lace trim or lemon, daisy or polka-dot prints taken from the spring 2016 collection.
With A-list hairstylists visiting Dubai for pricey tours of top salons and luxury stores opening consistently in the area (D&G just announced the debut of its first Child boutique in Dubai), it seems obvious there’s a market for this range.
