His friend Bill O'Reilly said that Trump won't actually be able to go after the network's "license."

President Donald Trump's media target of the week has been NBC, and on Friday morning he shared a tweet from his friend, Bill O'Reilly, who said that Trump "is doing major damage to the @NBC brand."

Trump has been tweeting all week about NBC and suggesting that the network's "license" should potentially be revoked, even though many in the media have pointed out flaws in his understanding of the licensing process.

O'Reilly admitted on Twitter that Trump "will not be able to impact licenses." In response, Trump said of NBC, "Sadly, they and others are Fake News, and the public is just beginning to figure it out!"

"A free press is vital to protecting all Americans," O'Reilly wrote on Twitter. "A corrupt press damages the Republic." Trump retweeted this comment from O'Reilly as well.

On his digital broadcast on Thursday night, O'Reilly addressed the spat between Trump and NBC News, which stemmed from an exclusive report on Wednesday that the president wants to massively increase the country's nuclear arsenal.

"It's stupid. The whole thing is stupid," O'Reilly said. "What is important to you is that we the people can no longer trust the news media. You can't."

But, he also threw water on Trump's threat to go after NBC's "license." "This is never going to happen in a million, gazillion years," he said. "But it sounds good."
