Stewart has delighted in covering Trump's presidential run, regularly mocking the real estate mogul's comments.

Could Donald Trump come face-to-face with one of the late-night comedians who's so gleefully mocked his presidential run?

The real-estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate tells The Hill that The Daily Show is "begging" him to appear on Jon Stewart's final show on Aug. 6.

“They have invited me," Trump said. "I like Jon Stewart — I think he’s good. They’re begging me to go on."

And he indicated he's open to talking to the man who has called him "clownstick."

“I would do it ... the problem is it looks like pandering," Trump said. "It looks so false and so phony if I do it."

Stewart has delighted in covering Trump's presidential run. When Trump announced his candidacy last month, Stewart could barely contain his enthusiasm.

"Thank you, Donald Trump, for making my last six weeks, my best six weeks," Stewart said on The Daily Show at the time. "He is putting me in some kind of comedy hospice."

A week later, amid reports that Trump hadn't filed the paperwork making his candidacy official, Stewart threatened to leave the show early.

He's since regularly mocked Trump's comments.

Daily Show reps have not yet responded to The Hollywood Reporter's request for comment.
