Donald Trump: "While We're in This Nation, We Should Be Speaking English"
Donald Trump responded when asked to clarify his remark that Jeb Bush should speak English.
Donald Trump thinks people in the United States should speak English, and he discussed this opinion at a press conference on Thursday.
ABC's Tom Llamas asked Trump to expand upon his recent statement that Jeb Bush should speak English, not Spanish.
Trump responded, "Well, I think that when you get right down to it, we're a nation that speaks English. I think that, while we're in this nation, we should be speaking English."
He added, "Whether people like it or not, that's how we assimilate." The Republican presidential frontrunner, who has made waves over his controversial remarks on Mexican immigrants, said he isn't just referring to Spanish, but all other languages.
Trump said that speaking English is "more appropriate," and it will help people from other countries "become successful and do great."
This all started with a conversation Trump had with Breitbart.
“I like Jeb,” Trump told the outlet. “He’s a nice man. But he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States.”
