Donald Trump: Ted Cruz Getting "Booed Off the Stage" Was "Beautiful Thing"
"I gave him a home. I said, if you'd like to speak, speak," Trump said of his former rival.
Donald Trump, whose venomous rivalry with Ted Cruz is well documented, couldn't resist lobbing another rebuke toward the Texas senator the morning after his big night accepting the mantle of Republican nominee.
In an interview with Ted Koppel this weekend on CBS' Sunday Morning, Trump criticized his former Republican primary opponent for not endorsing him Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
"I gave him a home. I said, if you'd like to speak, speak," Trump said of Cruz. "And the arena erupted in boos toward the end of his speech, because they saw he wasn't going to endorse. And I thought that was a beautiful thing."
Trump said the crowd's reaction showed unity in the party, despite Cruz's calculated snub, which drew attention away from Wednesday's main address by Mike Pence, Trump's running mate.
