Doo Wops, Hot Sauce strike chord at JFL

MONTREAL -- Louis CK and the Doo Wops are among the established performers creating the latest industry buzz here at the 25th annual Just for Laughs comedy festival.

Also, young New York sketch trio Hot Sauce attracted some attention Thursday night, with agents and others lauding their offbeat skits, including one that involves a lot of eggs being thrown onto the stage floor.

Louis CK on Thursday night showed off all-new stand-up material at a sold-out solo show that also drew a strong industry crowd.

Meanwhile, the Doo Wops earned positive reviews as hosts of the popular "Wiseguys" show of Italian comics, with industry people suggesting they could do well as hosts of variety or other TV shows.

Late Thursday, New Yorker Kurt Metzger was the standout at the second New Faces showcase of up-and-coming stand-ups, according to industry watchers.

A New Face in the first showcase that has been drawing some heat from talent scouts is Tom Segura.
