Based on the novel "Ditch" by Hal Niedzviecki, the indie feature by writer-director William D. MacGillivray is shooting in Halifax, ahead of a 2014 theatrical release.
TORONTO – Big Love’s Douglas Smith and Megan Follows are starring in Hard Drive, a coming-of-age tale by writer-director William D. MacGillivray.
Based on the novel Ditch by Hal Niedzviecki, the indie feature now shooting in Halifax also stars Laura Slade and the jazz drummer Jerry Granelli as it portrays a young man’s unexpected plunge into adulthood in the digital age.

Nova Scotia-based MacGillivray is best known for features likeThe Man of a Thousand Songs and the CBC TV series Gullage’s.
Stéphanie Weber Biron serves as the cinematographer on Hard Drive, which is produced by Picture Plant.
The indie feature has financing from Telefilm Canada, Film Nova Scotia and Canadian and provincial tax credits.
IndieCan Entertainment will release Hard Drive in Canada in 2014, with The Yellow Affair handling international pre-sales.
