Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo's luxe concept store will set up shop in the Arts District.

Dover Street Market — a luxury retail concept founded by Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo and husband Adrian Joffe — is heading to the West Coast.

The 10,000-square-foot concept store is opening in Downtown Los Angeles' Arts District in March 2018, reports WWD

Joffe, who serves as CEO of Comme des Garcons and Dover Street Market, tells the fashion trade that the L.A. location will be different than the outposts in London, Tokyo and New York. The space will span across one floor, rather than separate levels.

The announcement of DSM's expansion comes after Kawakubo served as this year's subject of the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute's latest exhibition.

The first DSM opened in London in 2004, relocating from Dover Street to Haymarket in 2016, and expanded to Tokyo in 2006 and then to New York in 2013. In addition to Comme des Garcons, DSM offers a curated selection of international luxury and streetwear labels, including Fendi, Gucci, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Balenciaga and Vetements.

DSM will join a number of retailers setting up shop in the Arts District, including 3.1 Phillip Lim and Shinola. The Louis Vuitton x Supreme pop-up was recently held in the booming industrial area, too.
