Downton Abbey producer Carnival Films, owned by NBCUniversal International Studios, has appointed Joanna Strevens to the post of head of development.

Reporting to managing director Gareth Neame, she will be responsible for overseeing Carnival’s development activity.

Strevens was previously head of development at Kudos Film & Television, where she worked across the company’s entire development slate.

Previously, Strevens was story producer for The Tunnel: Sabotage (Sky Atlantic/Canal+), developing it from the initial premise into an eight-part series. She also served as head of drama development for Hat Trick Productions.

"Jo is a highly talented executive and I’m delighted that she’s joining the team," Neame said Wednesday in a statement. "Her extensive experience of bringing high-end drama slates to fruition, as well as the relationships she has built with broadcasters, writers and directors, will prove essential in helping us take Carnival to the next level."

Added Strevens: "I’m extremely excited to be joining such a remarkable team at Carnival, who have a very well-deserved reputation for producing internationally renowned scripted series."
