DP Primes primed for SOC lifetime prize


Director of photography Robert Primes will receive the Society of Camera Operator's President's Award for lifetime achievement in the industry and dedication to the SOC.

His body of work includes such episodic series as "Felicity" and "thirtysomething," telefilms like "My Antonia," features including "Bird on a Wire" as well as commercials, music videos and documentaries. Primes won Emmys in 1995 for "Antonia" and in 1999 for "Felicity." He won an American Society of Cinematographers Outstanding Achievement Award in 2002 for "MDs."

Primes has served on the board of directors of the International Cinematographers Guild and as vp and treasurer of the American Society of Cinematographers.

The SOC's 2008 Lifetime Achievement and Camera Operator of the Year Awards presentation will be held Feb. 16 at the Goldenson Theatre of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood.
