DQ, ZDF team for 'Jungle Book' revival

CANNES -- Indian animation giant DQ Entertainment Group is joining forces with German pubcaster ZDF to co-produce a new animated TV series based on Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book."

The $12 million series will be produced both as 52 11-minute episodes and a 60-minute TV feature.

The project has presold to TF1 for France and NBC Universal has picked up home video distribution for the U.K., France, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

ZDF sales arm ZDF Enterprises will handle sales for Europe outside of French, English and Irish territories along with the Middle East and Latin America, with DQE taking remaining global rights on all platforms.

The 3-D series, to be shot in high definition, will be produced entirely in India with delivery scheduled for 2011.
