Dr. Dre Makes Surprise Appearance, Presents Diddy With ASCAP Award (Video)

"Y'all don't know how happy I am right now. I'm truly, truly happy," Sean "Diddy" Combs said in his acceptance speech at Friday's ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards.

Dr. Dre made a surprise appearance at the 24th ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards on Friday, presenting the ASCAP Founders Award to Sean "Diddy" Combs.

"Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs is a hustler," Dr. Dre said in his speech."In fact, he's what I call an extreme hustler."

"That's The Rock over there to the right," Combs joked when he approached the podium to receive his Founders Award. "Y'all don't know how happy I am right now. I'm truly, truly happy ... I'm extra, extra happy right now. I truly, truly, truly appreciate this."

But Dr. Dre wasn't the only shock of the night. Hip-hop artist Drake made a surprise appearance, presenting the songwriters of the year award to Noah "40" Shebib and Matthew Boi-1da" Samuels.

Additionally, Mary Mary, who also performed, received the ASCAP Golden Note Award. Other performances included R&B artist Miguel and rapper Pusha T, and R&B singer-songwriter Andrea Martin.

Friday's event was attended by hundreds of songwriters, recording artists and music industry execs, including Ne-Yo, Jimmy Iovine, Sylvia Rhone, Letoya Luckett, American Idol's Jacob Lusk, Naima Adedapo, Dirty Money, Foxy Brown, Kelly Rowland, among others.
