Drake has broken Adele's record for the most Billboard Music Awards wins in a single year.

The Toronto rapper took home 13 of the 22 prizes for which he was nominated, breaking the record with the final televised award of the night, top artist.

Drake brought his father, Nicki Minaj and many others onstage with him to accept his record-breaking award. But he told Adele she'd get the record back after her next album.

Adele won 12 Billboard Music Awards in 2012. Drake went into the evening tied with The Chainsmokers for the most nominations (22) in a single year.

Drake won 10 awards before the awards ceremony even began, cleaning up in the non-televised portion of the show.

The rapper also performed Sunday night, on a platform set up inside the Bellagio Hotel fountains, framed by synchronized bursts of pyrotechnics.
