Drake, Hedley Dominate Much Music Video Award Nominations

Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Lorde, SonReal, The Weeknd are also among the nominees at the Canadian trophy giveaway.

TORONTO - Rapper Drake and rocker Hedley lead the pack with six nominations each for the 2014 Much Music Video Awards next month in Toronto.

Drake and Hedley will go head-to-head in the juried best video and best director categories, while also contending in the Your Fave Artist/Group competition voted on by ordinary Canadians.

Hip hop artist SonReal grabbed five nominations, followed by Arcade Fire and The Weeknd with four each.

Other multiple nominees include Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Sam Roberts Band and Thugli.

Imagine Dragons and Lorde, both star performers at the MMVAs on June 15 in Toronto, snagged two nominations each.

First-time nominees at the MMVAs include Pharrell Williams, Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer, July Talk, Keys N Krates and MAGIC!

The 25th Much Music Video Awards, to be co-hosted by Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, are to air on the Much and CTV channels.
