DreamWorks Animation Names Abhijay Prakash Chief Operating Officer

Abhijay Prakash has been named chief operating officer at DreamWorks Feature Animation, it was announced today by DreamWorks Animation Group president Chris DeFaria. In his new role, Prakash will be responsible for the studio’s strategic planning and primary business operations, including finance, business development, technology and administrative functions. 

Prakash will also serve as a liaison between DreamWorks Animation and DWA’s new owner, Universal Pictures, which will release its first film from DWA, How to Train Your Dragon 3, on March 1.

Prakash previously served as COO of Focus Features, another of Universal’s film units. While his new appointment at DWA will become effective in the coming weeks, he will continue to provide support for Focus until the end of the year and awards season.
