DreamWorks ready for alien encounter

Studio skeds 'Nonstop' amid sci-fi ramp-up

DreamWorks has abducted the sci-fi action thriller screenplay "Nonstop" from scribe Michael Gilvary.

Patrick Tatopoulos ("Underworld: Rise of the Lycans") is attached to direct, and Len Wiseman is producing.

The story follows the passengers of Flight 209 after their plane is abducted by an alien ship. ICM, which reps Gilvary, Tatopoulos and Wiseman, packaged the project and started shopping it last week.

Alison Rosenzweig is an executive producer on the film. Execs Mark Sourian, Chloe Dan and Jonathan Eirich are overseeing for DreamWorks, which has been developing several other sci-fi projects.

The studio also has in the works the comic adaptation "Atlantis Rising," which has Wiseman directing and Joby Harold writing; "Cowboys and Aliens," another comic adaptation, being penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof; and "Quartermain," scripted by Mark Verheiden. Paramount retains the option to co-finance and co-distribute those projects but not "Nonstop."

Wiseman helmed "Underworld," "Underworld: Evolution" and "Live Free or Die Hard." He is attached to direct "Motorcade" for DreamWorks.

Tatopoulos has been a production and creature designer on movies including "Godzilla," "I, Robot," "Live Free or Die Hard" and the "Underworld" films.

Gilvary, also repped by Gaeta/ Rosenzweig Films, penned the script for the forthcoming film "Greta." He has "Devil to Pay" in development at Echo Lake and "Transit" in the works at Thousand Words. (partialdiff)
