Charles Stone will direct the dance comedy from a script by Chuck Hayward.

Drumline director Charles Stone has signed on to direct Ain't No Half Steppin, a dance comedy, for Broad Green Pictures.

The story is based on a spec from screenwriter Chuck Hayward, who currently writes for Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life on Fox.

Straight Outta Compton producer Matt Alvarez, who joined the company in October, will produce with Lena Waithe and Benjamin Cory Jones.

The story centers on an ambitious black sorority girl who, in order to get admitted to the law school of her dreams, agrees to cross culture lines and teach the exclusive art of black Greek stepping to a band of Kardashian-obsessed white sorority girls whose charter is about to be revoked.

"Much like he did with Drumline, Charles does an incredible job of bringing subcultures into the mainstream and we are excited to see him do the same thing with Ain’t No Half Steppin," said Alvarez.

Josh Reinhold will oversee the project on behalf of Matt Alvarez’ production company, while Lauren McCarthy will oversee it for Broad Green Pictures.

Stone previously directed Drumline, Mr 3000, Lila & Eve and episodes of Lincoln Heights. He’s repped by Paradigm and 3 Arts Entertainment.

The deal was brokered on behalf of Stone, Waithe and Jones by Paradigm. Hayward is represented by APA, Heroes & Villains, and Ginsburg Daniels, LLP. Christopher Tricarico, executive vp business and legal affairs and general counsel handled for Broad Green.
