Dubai International Film Festival announces dates

LONDON -- Organizers of the Dubai International Film Festival said Tuesday that this year's edition will take place Dec. 9-16.

Now in its fourth year, the festival -- under the honorary chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum -- will once again include a competitive section, introduced for the first time last year.

Organizers also announced that festival director and CEO Neil Stephenson is stepping down from his position to pursue other interests.

The rest of the Dubai team remains intact. Abdulhamid Juma, deputy director general of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority and chairman of the DIFF, will continue to lead DIFF, while international artistic director Simon Field and Arabic programming artistic director Masoud Amralla Al Ali will continue in their roles for the upcoming edition.

Dubai International Film Festival managing director Shivani Pandya returns for her fourth year, continuing to direct strategic and operational aspects of the festival, reporting to Juma.
