Duo knock on 'Death's' door

Morgan, Lawrence beef up remake's cast; Glover, Marsden join as well

Tracy Morgan and Martin Lawrence are joining Chris Rock in Screen Gems and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment's remake of "Death at a Funeral."

Also joining the cast are Loretta Devine, Ron Glass, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana and Columbus Short.

Neil LaBute is directing the ensemble comedy, in which a funeral ceremony turns into a debacle of misplaced cadavers and family secrets. When things can't get any worse, a man who claims to be the dead man's gay lover arrives and threatens blackmail.

Rock, who co-wrote the script with Ayesha Carr, is producing with Kimmel, Share Stalling, Lawrence Malkin and William Horberg. Clint Culpepper and Scott Strauss are overseeing for Screen Gems.

For Morgan, the deal marks a continued push into movies and builds on the work he does on the NBC sitcom "30 Rock." The actor recently signed on to star opposite Bruce Willis in the Warner Bros. buddy action comedy "A Couple of Cops," which Kevin Smith has signed on to direct. Morgan is repped by Endeavor.

Lawrence, repped by CAA and the Collective, most recently appeared in "College Road Trip" and "Wild Hogs." (partialdiff)
