Dutch sound off on funding cuts

Changes could affect animated, docu films

AMSTERDAM -- The Dutch film community is joining local cultural groups in protesting proposed funding cuts by culture minister Ronald Plasterk.

According to the petition that will be delivered to Plasterk on Thursday by "Blackbook" co-stars Carice van Houten and Halina Reijn, the decision to reject new subsidies will lead to a decline in Dutch film production.

Protesters say the cuts could particularly affect animation and documentary production.
