E1 TV's 'Shattered' hires showrunner

Kim Clements on board for Canadian cop drama

TORONTO -- Kim Clements has been hired as showrunner for "Shattered," a character-driven Canadian cop drama from E1 Television being shopped stateside.

E1, which this week sold "Copper," another of its cop dramas, to ABC, has "Shattered" in development as a pilot at Canadian broadcaster Global Television and set for a Canadian series pickup.

John Morayniss, president of E1 Television, said "Shattered" has been shopped to the U.S. networks and a deal is expected before long.

The pilot for the cop drama from Force Four Films and E1 featured Callum Keith Rennie as a damaged recluse who solves crimes using his multiple-personality disorder.

Billed as " 'CSI' meets 'A Beautiful Mind,' the "Shattered" pilot also starred Laura Jordan as a special investigator who teams up with Kyle Logan (Rennie).

Debra Beard and Hugh Beard of Force Four and E1's Noreen Halpern, John Morayniss and Laszlo Barna produced the pilot, which was written by showrunner Rick Drew ("Lonesome Dove") and directed by Bobby Roth ("Prison Break").

E1 Television has a third Canadian cop drama, CBS' "The Bridge," in production in Toronto.
