'Earl' writer-producer sells pitch to Par

Television writer-producer Hilary Winston has sold a feature pitch to Paramount based on her upcoming book, "My Ex-Boyfriend Wrote a Book About Me."

The "Bridget Jones's Diary"-style story is inspired by Winston's romantic misadventures. When she spotted a novel written by her ex while browsing at a bookstore, she began paging through it only to realize that the "fat-assed girlfriend" he referred to throughout was her.

This book is her response. Only hers, as she is quick to point out, is nonfiction.

Sterling Publishers is scheduled to publish "Ex-Boyfriend" in spring 2011.

Broadway Video is producing the feature, with Hilary Marx running point for the producers. Ashley Brucks will oversee the project for Paramount.

Repped by ICM, Winston is a co-executive producer on the NBC series "Community." She was a writer-producer on the NBC comedy series "My Name Is Earl" and a writer on the WB Network series "Blue Collar TV."

As part of her new two-year overall deal with Sony TV, Winston will continue to work on "Community" as well as develop new shows for the company.
