Echospin, UMGD sign direct-to-fan deal

Allows fans the ability to buy special content from roster

DENVER -- Universal Music Group Distribution has partnered with Echospin on a digital initiative designed to sell and promote content directly to fans.

The deal provides UMGD's entire roster of labels and artists access to Echospin's direct-to-fan sales and promotion technologies that supports digital, mobile and physical products.

For instance, 3 Doors Down used Echospin to offer an "Ultimate Fan Pack" that combined remastered CDs and vinyl releases with a poster, autographed "early entry pass," a T-shirt, and an instant download of the remastered hit single "Kryptonite" in MP3 form.

Similar additional packages are expected from artists such as Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, and others.
