Eddie Hassell, Actor in 'Kids Are All Right' and 'Surface,' Dead After Being Shot in Texas

The 30-year-old reportedly was killed early Sunday morning in what appears to be a carjacking.

Eddie Hassell, an actor who appeared in the Oscar-nominated 2010 film The Kids Are All Right and NBC's 2005-06 sci-fi series Surface, died Sunday morning, his manager confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 30.

TMZ reported that Hassell was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Texas in what appears to be a carjacking.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the incident happened outside Hassell's girlfriend's apartment, which is located in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was taken to the hospital, where he passed away.

The shooting is currently under investigation. There is no suspect in custody, and the motive is unclear.

Hassell was born on July 16, 1990, in Corsicana, Texas. He got into acting as a child, appearing in several TV shows during the 2000s and 2010s.

He played Clay in The Kids Are All Right and portrayed Phil Nance on Surface.

Other credits include Devious Maids, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Southland and 'Til Death.
