Eddie Redmayne, Rooney Mara Nominated for Razzies and Oscars
'Fifty Shades of Grey,' 'The Martian' producer Simon Kinberg and Sylvester Stallone all have the dubious distinction of being nominated for both awards.
Many of the Oscar nominees announced on Thursday morning have also been honored by various guilds, the Critics Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Golden Globes and other illustrious groups.
But a handful of Academy Award nominees have the dubious distinction of also being mentioned for Razzie Awards, bestowed on the worst movies and performances of the year.
Eddie Redmayne, Rooney Mara and The Martian producer Simon Kinberg all scored nominations for both polar-opposite prizes, albeit for different movies.
Redmayne is an Oscar nominee for best actor for his work in The Danish Girl and a Razzie nominee for worst supporting actor for his role in Jupiter Ascending, which is up for six Razzies.
Mara is an Oscar nominee for best supporting actress for her role in Carol and a Razzie nominee for worst supporting actress for her controversial turn as Tiger Lily in the Peter Pan origins film Pan.
Kinberg is up for an Oscar for best picture as a producer on The Martian and nominated for the worst screenplay Razzie for his work on Fantastic Four, a five-time Razzie nominee.
Fifty Shades of Grey, meanwhile, scored six Razzie nominations, but the film is also among the Oscar nominees for best original song for The Weeknd's "Earned It."
And even Creed's Sylvester Stallone is up for a Razzie as well as an Oscar for best supporting actor, but at least his Razzie nomination is in a positive category: He's nominated for the redeemer award for a past Razzie winner who has gone on to do better work.
This isn't the first time actors have been mentioned for Razzies and Oscars in the same year. In one of the most memorable instances of such duplicate nominations, Sandra Bullock actually attended the Razzies in 2010, where she proudly accepted the worst actress award for her role in All About Steve, delivering a hilarious speech and bringing DVDs of the film for the audience. Hours later, she won the best actress Oscar for her work in The Blind Side.
The Razzie winners will be announced Feb. 27, the night before the Oscars, which are set for Sunday, Feb. 28.
