EEAP, Regency ink CIS deal
EEAP signs 3-year volume deal with New Regency for CISCOLOGNE, Germany -- New Regency's international distribution subsidiary Monarchy Entertainment has signed a three-year volume deal with Eastern European Acquisition Pool (EEAP) giving the Berlin-based licenser free and pay TV rights for the GUS territories for around 100 titles, including "Marley and Me," 'Bride Wars," "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," and "Big Momma's House" one and two.
Around a third of the films in the deal are first runs, the remainder being library titles. As part of the agreement, EEAP can bundle some of its top titles with New Regency films. That arrangement helped secure two big Russia deals: TNT picked up 50 titles, many from the New Regency line-up and TV3 signed for a package of more than 30 films.
"Russian broadcasters haven't been buying anything for the last 6-8 months, so they have huge gaps in their schedules," said Alexander von Dulmen, managing director of EEAP. "If the product is good and the channels really want it, they are willing to pay decently as well. The last year has been brutal but the end of the tunnel is in sight."
