Egyptian Actress Tapped as Doha Tribeca Jury President

Yosra replaces previously announced Hany Abu-Assad.

Egyptian actress Yosra has been named president of the jury for the second annual Doha Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from Oct. 26-30 in Doha, Qatar.

She replaces previously announced jury president Hany Abu-Assad, who ran into a scheduling conflict due to production delays on his latest film, “The Courier,” currently shooting in Louisiana.

The jury will also include actress, producer and director Salma Hayek Pinault, actor, writer, and director Nick Moran, Indian director Bhavna Talwar and Bosnian screenwriter and director Danis Tanovic.

Together they will choose the winners of the festival’s Arab Film Competition: Best Arab Film and Best Arab Filmmaker. Both awards carry a prize of $100,000 each.

The fest also added several more films to its schedule. They include Andrew Lau’s “Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen,” John Curran’s “Stone" and Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete,”  starring Jessica Alba, Danny Trejo and Don Johnson, George Hickenloope’rs “Casino Jack” and Todd Williams’ “Paranormal Activity 2.”
