'Eklavya' confirmed as India's Oscar entry

NEW DELHI -- India's Oscar foreign film entry "Eklavya: The Royal Guard" has been reconfirmed as the country's official entry by the Film Federation of India Tuesday .

The producers of "Dharm" (Religion) filed a case in the Mumbai High Court, alleging that the FFI's selection process was "biased" because some jury members were partial to "Eklavya" director Vidhu Vinod Chopra (HR 9/30).

"The selection of 'Eklavya' is final as this decision cannot be overturned. We will respond to whatever allegations have been raised in the court case and explain the FFI's selection procedure. Even if this case drags on further, that has no bearing on our final selection and we have communicated this to the Academy," FFI president G.S. Mayawala said in an interview.
