After the Democrats were projected to win back the House, Jones said, "My heart has been restored."

CNN anchor Van Jones, who called Donald Trump's victory in 2016 a "white-lash," was not optimistic about the Democratic Party's chances on Tuesday night.

"This is heart-breaking. It's heart-breaking," Jones said early in the night, when it looked like the Democrats could fail to regain control of the House of Representatives.

He continued: "The hope has been that the antibodies would kick in. That this infestation of hatred and division would draw a response from the American people in both parties to say 'No, no more.'"

But, a few hours later, he changed his tune, after it was clear that his preferred party would win the House back. "My heart has been restored," he said.

Several anchors and pundits across the broadcast and cable news networks have pushed back on the notion of a "blue wave" backing Democrats around the country.

"This is not a blue wave," CNN anchor Jake Tapper said on air Tuesday.

While it is extremely early, one of the network's pro-Trump contributors, David Urban, said the early results suggest that the Trump campaign's much-maligned "caravan" advertisement, which was pulled from air by a number of networks, "worked."

Fox News, NBC News, CBS News and CNN have all called the House for Democrats. Fox News was the first network to make the call.
