Co-founded by Paul Oakenfold, the first-ever ceremony celebrating electronic music will air on April 23.

Electronic music is going primetime.

The first-ever Electronic Music Awards & Foundation show will air this spring on Fox, producers announced Thursday. Los Angeles-based production company TV4 Entertainment and electronic music luminary Paul Oakenfold are behind the new genre-specific awards show, which will air as an hour-long special on April 23 at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Filming on April 14 at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, the inaugural ceremony promises to spotlight the biggest artists and executives in electronic music and also raise money and awareness for various causes. The show will feature red carpet coverage, awards presentations, interviews and live performances.

"I’m thrilled to be a part of an awards show that finally both recognizes and celebrates, on a primetime platform, one of the biggest music genres in the world today," said executive producer Oakenfold.

The Electronic Music Awards & Foundation show is executive-produced by Paul Duddridge (former U.K. comedy agent/producer and now Head of Entertainment Productions at TV4), TV4 Entertainment CEO Jon Cody and Oakenfold. The show will be directed by Russell Thomas (MTV EMA Awards (2011-15), Katy Perry: Part of Me).
