Eleven Arts goes for the gore

Picks up rights to 'Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl'

More Cannes coverage

CANNES -- U.S.-Japanese sales and production house Eleven Arts has picked up international rights to super-splatter movie "Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl."

The picture will have its world premiere at the New York Asian Film Festival in June and also has has been confirmed to play at Fantasia in Montreal and Korea's Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in July in 2009.

The movie is the latest from Yoshihiro Nishimura, who stormed the fantasy fest circuit last year with "Tokyo Gore Police" and revived the career of Eihi Shiina, the actress who starred in Miike Takashi's "Audition" but disappeared from sight thereafter. Shiina also stars in "Girl."
