Elle Fanning Hosts Creatures of the Wind x Just One Eye Dinner
The 'Neon Demon' star joined actresses Yara Shahidi and Rowan Blanchard to celebrate COTW designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters' new customizable denim capsule collection.
It may be the dregs of August in L.A., but the fashion set turned out in full force Thursday night to celebrate the launch of the Creatures of the Wind customizable denim capsule collection for Just One Eye in Hollywood.
Elle Fanning hosted the dinner, along with Just One Eye owner Paola Russo and Creatures of the Wind investors-advisers Angelique Soave and Katherine Ross.
"I have bought their outfits to wear to events," said Fanning, dressed in a blue jumpsuit by the New York-based label. "The clothes have an easy, effortless look, but they are not boring."
Other guests included actress Rowan Blanchard, costume designer Patrik Milani (who just got hired for 2018's The Flash), model Asia Chow (freshly graduated from Columbia University), handbag designer Sally Perrin, superstar florist Eric Buterbaugh, boutique owner Desiree Kohan, stylists/Newbark designers Maryam and Marjan Malakpour and social media star Erica Pelosini.

COTW designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters worked the room, showing guests how to use an iPad app to customize jeans with embroidered floral patches inspired by a psychedelic vision of Middle Eastern textiles.
"Couture-level embroidery is something we’ve been digging into in our collections," said Gabier. "At our London Resort show, we debuted six one-of-a-kind embroidered parkas that sold out within 48 hours. We do really well with really special pieces."
Gabier also touted the “interactive experience” of customizing the jeans. “The client can engage, so it’s not just buying something.”
The jeans are available in black and white denim and black suede and start at $750. They are exclusive to Just One Eye, the concept boutique located in Howard Hughes' old headquarters.
Creatures of the Wind has been on a roll recently, dressing lots of celebs, including Lena Dunham for the Democratic National Convention in July and the CFDA Awards in June. "It’s a really organic relationship," Gabier said of Dunham. "We like her a lot."

Gabier and Peters launched their line in Chicago in 2008. Both are graduates of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Department of Fashion. Gabier gained experience in Antwerp, Belgium, working for Dirk Schonberger and others, while Peters spent two years doing specialty handiwork as a studio assistant to artist and designer Nick Cave. Combined, their aesthetic has been conceptual and quirky, but also exquisitely detail-oriented.
Although they live and show in New York now, Gabier and Peters have deep ties to Los Angeles, where their investors-advisers Angelique Soave and Katherine Ross (who is married to LACMA director Michael Govan) live and where they produce their shoes, with the help of Newbark.
