Elmar Giglinger new co-head of Medienboard

One of Germany's richest regional subsidy bodies

COLOGNE, Germany -- Elmar Giglinger, a former executive at MTV Networks and Comedy Central in Germany, will be the new co-director of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, one of Germany's richest regional subsidy bodies.

Giglinger will be in charge of promoting Berlin and the surrounding state of Brandenburg as a location for local and international film shoots. He'll join Kirsten Niehuus, in charge of Medienboard's purse strings as head of film financing.

The Medienboard, which has backed such features as Oscar-nominees "The White Ribbon" and "Inglourious Basterds," is keen to present a business-as-usual image following the departure of long-time director Petra Muller, who this year jumped ship to head the NRW Film Board.
