The performance will be held at Tower Records and is free and open to the public.

Elton John will give a free concert that is open to the Los Angeles public on Saturday.

The legendary singer announced on Twitter early Saturday morning that the concert will begin at 12 p.m. PT and will be held at West Hollywood's Tower Records lot, located at 8801 Sunset Blvd.

"It was an idea by David Furnish, my husband, who thought it would be great the day before the Oscar party to do something to thank the city of West Hollywood who have been so amazing to us over the years," John said in a video on his Twitter page. "They give us the West Hollywood Park for nothing and so we're doing it to A, say thank you to them and B, because it's a cool thing to do."

His "Elton John Live on the Sunset Strip" concert will take place a day before his annual Elton John Aids Foundation's Academy Awards viewing party, this year held on Feb. 28 at West Hollywood Park.
