EMI Music taps Sexton as executive vp

Responsible for global brands, licensing

NEW YORK -- Cynthia Sexton, former senior vp strategic marketing and licensing at EMI Music North America, has been upped to executive vp global brand partnership, licensing and synchronization at EMI Music, a newly created position.

Sexton, who will continue to be based in Los Angeles, will report to Ronn Werre, president of EMI Music Commercial Development.

The promotion, effective immediately, means that Sexton will add worldwide responsibility for licensing of EMI content to film, TV and branded entertainment efforts to her current duties.

"Cynthia has proven to be a leader in this field, and I am thrilled that she will be lending her talents to EMI on a global basis," Werre said. "She has amazing instincts for helping build brands and for working with the TV, film, games and marketing communities to marry the right music with their projects. She will focus on maximizing the revenue potential of EMI artists' works and create strategic partnerships designed to help artists' careers while adding value to brands."

Previously, Sexton oversaw music licensing and marketing efforts between brands such as Nissan, Apple, Diet Coke and EMI artists, including New Line Cinema's film "Sex and the City."
