Emmys by the Numbers: Nominations by Series, Network, Studio

Game of Thrones S06 E03 Jon Snow H 2016

HBO and 'Game of Thrones' lead the packs for the third year in a row.

There was no change at the top of this year's Emmy nominations as HBO and its flagship drama Game of Thrones led way as the most nominated network and series, respectively. This marked the third year that the premium cable network and its adaptation of George R.R. Martin's fantasy series have topped both lists. On the series side, Ryan Murphy's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story came in second, while fellow anthology Fargo came in third and HBO's Veep was the most nominated comedy. On the network side, FX moved from fourth last year to second, and Netflix was up from sixth to third as the streaming giant netted an additional 20 noms over last year. NBC led the broadcasters with 41 — even with last year when it tied with CBS for third. On the studio side, HBO, 20th Century Fox TV and FX Productions led the pack. (Here's last year's ranking.)
