Emmy Award-Winning Sound Editor Maciek Malish Killed in Crash
Maciek Malish was known for his work on 'The X-Files' and 'Lost.'
An Emmy Award-winning sound editor was killed Saturday while riding his bicycle in Moorpark after a Saturn sedan hit him and a motorcyclist, killing them both.
Maciek Malish, 53, of Simi Valley was hit around 5:20 p.m. on Moorpark Road near Tierra Rejada Road when a driver of a sedan swerved for an unknown reason, said Miguel Duarte, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
Jesse Cushman, 43, of Fillmore was the motorcyclist who was killed, Duarte said. The Saturn driver was identified as Rachael Hill, 26, of Camarillo, the CHP spokesman stated.
Malish was best known for his work on Lost, Ally McBeal and The X-Files. His recent credits include Criminal Activities and Westworld.
"Maciek was not only a valued long time member of our board but also a close friend and colleague of many members of the MPSE. His insight and honesty on our board will be missed," according to a statement from the Motion Picture Sound Editors society.
Hill has not been arrested and alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash, Duarte said.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
Malish's survivors include his wife, Elizabeth.
His remains will be flown to his native Poland, where his family will hold his funeral and internment. Click here to contribute to a memorial fund.
