Emmy Parties 2018: The Complete Guide

Toast to the best shows on television ahead of TV's biggest night.

In preparation for the Sept. 17 Emmy Awards, here's where to fete the top shows with top talent — and there's no shortage of cocktails or conversations.

Emmy nominees and previous winners, along with special guests, will be welcomed at this invite-only event presented by Precious Vodka and benefiting Wednesday's Child. The Hollywood Reporter and SAG-AFTRA’s Emmy Nominees Night

and SAG-AFTRA will kick off the 70th annual Emmy Awards weekend with a cocktail party at Avra Beverly Hills. The second annual Emmy Nominees Night will toast to the top contenders in this year's race as guests will enjoy beats by DJ Myles Hendrik — last year's soiree broke out into a full-on dance party — photo booth and Greek delicacies including a raw bar. The star-studded evening sponsored by Heineken will be hosted by THR editorial director Matthew Belloni and SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris.

Luxury carmaker Audi — back for its eighth consecutive year as the official automotive partner and vehicle provider of the 70th Emmy Awards — hosts its annual pre-Emmy event. This year, however, Audi moves over to newly christened West Hollywood hotspot La Peer hotel, where the new Audi e-tron will be on display ahead of its official unveiling in San Francisco on Sept. 17. Previous guests have included Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Vanessa Kirby, Matt Smith, Justin Hartley and Milo Ventimiglia.

The magazine teams with the fashion designer for an Emmy Women to Watch in Television luncheon, hosted by Glamour editor-in-chief Samantha Barry. FX Networks, in partnership with Vanity Fair, hosts an invite-only cocktail party to celebrate FX's Emmy nominations, including talent like Penelope Cruz, Donald Glover, Ricky Martin, Sarah Paulson, Keri Russell and many more from shows The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Atlanta, American Horror Story: Cult, The Americans, Baskets and Legion. Consul General of Canada James Villenueve will host a cocktail party the Sunday night before the Emmys ceremony in honor of Canadian nominees — expect to see Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid's Tale), Ellen Wong (GLOW), Holly Taylor (The Americans) and Sarah Goldberg (Barry), among others.


Official Emmy Governors Ball — Emmys Under the Stars
L.A. Live Event Deck, immediately following awards presentation
Produced by Cheryl Cecchetto and her Sequoia Productions team for 21 years, the ball moves outdoors for the first time with returning chef Joachim Splichal and Patina Catering. The new layout will also feature an open area surrounding the "Winner's Circle," where Emmy winners will be able to get their trophies engraved. Wine from Sterling Vineyards, Ferrari Trento champagne, cocktails by Ketel One and Fiji Water, the official water partner of the 70th Emmys and Governors Ball, along with Lindt Chocolate.


NeueHouse, 6121 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles
The streamer has a lot to celebrate this year in regard to the 2018 Emmys: bagging the most nominations of any competitor in the TV business, delivering the first year in 18 that HBO was not atop the Emmy noms leader board. Netflix scored 112 nominations, so expect to see stars from The Crown, Godless, Stranger Things and Glow, such as Claire Foy, Jeff Daniels, Millie Bobby Brown and Alison Brie. Music by DJ Daisy O'Dell.

Cecconi's, 8764 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, 8:30 p.m. 
Toast to this year's Amazon nominees — their most ever at 22 — including the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel cast, which boasts 14 nods. Located just down the street from HBO, expect to see a trail of cars doing drop-offs at both parties up and down Melrose Avenue.

The Nomad Hotel, 649 S. Olive St., Los Angeles, 8 p.m.
The party could be a hot ticket if the streamer's The Handmaid's Tale repeats its best drama series win from 2017 this year. Still, it might not even matter, because Hulu earned 20 nominations for the second season of the show, including eight different acting category mentions. Expect to see revelers including Elisabeth Moss, Alexis Bledel, Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, Joseph Fiennes, Cherry Jones, Kelly Jenrette and Samira Wiley. Hulu is also lauding nominees including Jeff Daniels, Michael Stuhlbarg and Craig Zisk for The Looming Tower.

Dama, 612 E. 11th Street, Los Angeles, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The Turner networks will be celebrating a variety of nominations for its breakout shows including The Alienist (including outstanding limited series) and TBS for mentions for Full Frontal With Samantha Bee (including outstanding variety talk series).

The Plaza at Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
It's a milestone year for HBO's ever-popular Emmy party: 2018 marks the 20th year the cable network has hosted a party on TV's biggest night and the 16th consecutive year that HBO has taken over the Pacific Design Center (all designed by Billy Butchkavitz). The design inspiration for this year's party — in honor of HBO's 108 nominations (topped for the first time ever by Netflix with 120 noms), backed by shows like perennial Emmy favorite Game of Thrones — is "Garden of Eden" so expect to see a the space transformed into a "fanciful garden setting." Wolfgang Puck Catering is handling the menu.

Vibiana, 214 South Main St., Los Angeles, 8 p.m.
The corporate siblings band together to fete the company's roster of 2018 nominees. Music by DJ Alex Merrell.
