Front Row Report, Lanvin: Emmy Rossum Loves the Lace
She graciously called the confusing collection "fresh Victorian."
Lanvin’s Thursday-night show was one of the hottest tickets in town as the first collection of the post-Alber Elbaz era, and even though it was panned by critics, Shameless star Emmy Rossum praised the collection in a style she labeled “fresh Victorian.”
“I loved the mix of textures and the mix of velvet and lace, and the soft floral prints,” she told Pret-a-Reporter from her front-row perch, citing the mix of browns and dark blues (Look 27, Look 44). “It’s a really interesting, beautiful look.”
She’s also a fan of this year’s bigger-is-better volume trend. “I love it, I’m into it. I love a good blouson any day,” she joked, though she was in a fitted velvet gown.
Seatmates Ciara and Kelly Rowland also had a chance to kiss and catch up, with Rowland singing the praises of the bold, blingy necklaces.
Ciara, who hit the H&M show the night before, recommends a good dose of adrenaline with a side of juice to keep energy up during fashion week.
“I think you just feed off the excitement of seeing all the amazing fashion. It’s always so much fun, so even though you have to adjust to the time difference from flying in, you just have an adrenaline that helps you get through it,” she told Pret-a-Reporter.
Sitting with beau Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, they both said that they’ve recently jumped on the juicing bandwagon. Wilson recommended a beet and ginger combo for energy. “I was never into juices or juicing, but we’ve been trying it recently and I love it. It sounds weird, but it’s really good,” added Ciara.
It also helps to have a glam squad on hand. The songstress is traveling with hairstylist Cesar Ramirez, who created a heavenly crown braid for the H&M show Wednesday night and a sleek, center part for Lanvin.
Rossum's plan was much simpler: Two days of shows, then spending the weekend furniture shopping with her mom. "I just bought an apartment in New York, so now I have to put stuff in it," she said. "I love to wander around the flea markets and find interesting pieces."
