ABCd is another new platform that scored nominations in the short form categories, for Ty Burrell's performance in 'Boondoggle' and a 'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD' companion series.

Several new streaming services broke into the Emmy nominations for the first time thanks to the award show's short form categories.

Go90, the ad-supported service launched by Verizon in late 2015, nabbed its first nominations on Thursday, both in the short form comedy or drama actor category. One nomination came for Jason Ritter's performance in the Funny or Die-produced comedy Tales of Titans and the other for John Michael Higgins' work in comedy Tween Fest, also produced by Funny or Die.

Other new platforms scoring their first short form nominations include ABCd, the digital arm of the broadcast network, and Comic-Con HQ, the streaming service launched by Lionsgate ahead of Comic-Con last year.

ABCd was nominated in the short form comedy or drama actor category for Ty Burrell's turn in Boondoggle, a series loosely based on his life. It also received a nomination in the short form comedy or drama series category for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD: Slingshot, a companion series to the network series that focuses on Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez.

Comic-Con HQ, meanwhile, earned two nominations for Con Man, about a washed-up sci-fi star who still works the convention circuit. Star Alan Tudyk was nominated in the short form comedy or drama actor category, and Mindy Sterling was nominated in the short form comedy or drama actress category.

Companion series to popular televised shows often dominate the short form category, and this year was no exception. Fear the Walking Dead: Passage scored two nominations, while Hack Into Broad City, Los Pollos Hermanos Employee Training, Creating Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show: Between the Scenes each nabbed one nomination.

Funny or Die was also recognized with several nominations. In addition to the projects it produced for go90 that were nominated, it earned two nods in the acting categories for Ben Schwartz and Lauren Lapkus for The Earliest Show, which streams on FunnyorDie.com.

"Funny Or Die is honored to work with talent like Ben, Lauren, Jason and 'JMH', and it's so great to see their performances recognized," said FOD CEO Mike Farah. "Everything in comedy comes down to the talent and the writing, and this group is as good as it gets."

There were few repeat nominations in the short form categories, but both Maker Studios' Epic Rap Battles of History and Defy Media's Honest Trailers were nominated in the short form variety series category for the second year in a row.

"We are beyond thrilled and honored to be recognized for the second year in a row by the television academy," said Andy Signore, senior VP and head of creative for ScreenJunkies, the Defy brand behind Honest Trailers. "It's humbling to have the directors for Captain America: Civil War and John Wick saying they take our videos into consideration when making their films and getting talent like Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bolton to work with us on Honest Trailers. We truly never expected it and are humbled by the recognition."
