Heavy-duty zippers are required.

Empire star Serayah has been extra busy this New York Fashion Week, walking down the runway for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection, attending several shows including Dion Lee, Cushnie et Ochs, Zimmermann, and, of course, going through several outfit changes.

From what we can tell, she's handling the hustle and bustle of hopping from one show to the next just fine — and with fab attire each time. How so? She has her stylists Wayman and Micah — who also dress Tessa Thompson and Brandy — right by her side.

At Baja East's Saturday evening runway show, where the styling duo accompanied the actress, Micah tells Pret-a-Reporter that they're able to execute so many different looks for Serayah with "a lot of pre-planning, a lot of execution and a car with a lot of space for changing."

Adds Wayman: "And making sure zippers are all secured and invisible zippers are removed for more heavy duty zippers."

"Seriously," Serayah — clad in a bright blue rib-knit overall — agrees, laughing.

Beyond fashion week outfits, the trio also take into consideration looks that the performer can wear on red carpets, too.

"For red carpets we always like to exude personality, especially for Serayah," says Wayman. "So we like to have fun with it. We like bold statements and color, and great tailoring. Serayah is a pro at owning the red carpet. We just use that to accentuate her personality."

Serayah is all about a great fit, especially given her short stature (she's 5'3'').

"I have this thing where I wish I could be stretched. I'm like, 'Is there a procedure for that where I can get taller' — I don't know," she jokes. "The way they fit means everything to me. And the way it photographs so I think that's the main thing."

While the wardrobe wizards are all about having fun with her style, Micah does point out: "You have someone like Serayah who's a singer and actress so that platform gets a little bigger. We get to play but we make sure there's a level of continuity."

As for Monday's red carpet at the Grammys, don't expect any hints from Wayman or Micah. The dynamic duo remained tight-lipped when we asked if they'd give us any hints, only to have them respond: "Not yet" and "You will love it." Can't wait.
